On November 16, at the behest of the Armenian military-political leadership, positions of the Azerbaijani Army in Kalbajar and Lachin districts were subjected to heavy shelling by the Armenian armed forces in blatant violation of the terms of the Tripartite Declaration dated November 10, 2020, including fundamental norms and principles of international law.
As a result of measures taken by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the provocation committed by Armenia on the state border was completely prevented.
However, we deeply regret to inform that due to provocation, 7 of our servicemen were killed and 10 were injured.
Servicemen who have fallen:
1) Aliyev Natig Yusif, born on 22.05.1989;
2) Niftaliyev Umud Oruj, born on October 20.10.1998;
3) Jabbarov Orkhan Hatam, born on 29.09.1994;
4) Aghayev Elchin Marifat, born on 9.11.2002;
5) Khalilov Murad Galib, born on 25.01.2003;
6) Aliyev Elchin Ramil, born on 11.12.2002;
7) Alizade Elmin Samir, born on 18.03.2003.
With regard to the facts above, a criminal case has been launched by the Military Prosecution Office under Articles 120.2.12 (murder on the grounds of national, racial, religious hatred or enmity) and 29, 120.2.12 (attempted murder on the grounds of national, racial, religious hatred or enmity) of the Criminal Code.
Necessary documentation is maintained and evidence is collected by the prosecution authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan to ensure that servicemen of the provocative Armenian armed forces who have perpetrated various crimes are brought to justice and punished within the frames of international law.
