The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan continues to take urgent measures to prevent attempts to commit provocations, terrorist and other criminal acts aimed at undermining social and political stability in the country as well as the prosecution in accordance with international law of those who have committed such acts.
Certain facts related to open calls for terrorism on some Internet resources were analyzed within the framework of the comprehensive measures taken during the investigation carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
A citizen of the Republic of Armenia, chairman of the "Partnership for Democracy" Center and editor of the "Armenian Religions" website Stepan Daniyelyan, as well as Armenian historian, publicist, director of the “Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute” under the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, a lecturer at Yerevan State University and a member of the board of the Prospect Regional and Political Studies Center named Ayk Demoyan openly called for terrorism by violating public security in the internationally recognized territories of our country in order to cause panic among the population, as well as for committing explosions and other similar actions aimed at killing of people and causing harm to their health, resulting significant material damage.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted on these facts by of the Republic of Azerbaijan under Article 12.2, 214-2 (open calls to terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The investigation of the case was entrusted to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Intensive investigative and detective activities are under way.
The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan will take all necessary measures to prevent any unlawful acts in the country, including those directed against citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as to prosecute those responsible for committing such crimes in accordance with the norms of international law.
