As a result of joint investigative and operational-search activities, an especially grave crime which remained unsolved for 29 years was uncovered.
  Thus, on November 26, 1993, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan upon the discovery of Fikret Ibragimov’s corpse in his apartment with gunshot wounds as a result of a shot from a firearm. However, the criminal proceedings were suspended as it appeared impossible to establish the person who committed the crime.
  After a re-examination of the criminal case by the Narimanov District Prosecution Office proceedings in the case were resumed.
Based on the evidence obtained as a result of numerous intensive investigative operational measures carried out by prosecution and police authorities, it was established that on November 26, 1993, Nazim Bayramov, a colleague of the victim, went to Fikret Ibragimov’s apartment in connection with the discontent that had arisen between them. During the conflict, he took a gun from the victim, shot Fikret Ibragimov in the head, and left the scene.
  On October 28, 2022, Nazim Bayramov was brought charges under Part 2 of Article 94 (intentional murder under aggravating circumstances) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which was in force until September 1, 2000, as well as under Article 228.1 of the applicable   Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, their components, ammunition, explosives and devices).
  Investigation of the criminal case is underway.
