The Department of Service Investigations is an independent structural unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 
The main responsibilities and functions of the Department: to conduct official checks and investigations of prosecutors in accordance with the instructions of the Prosecutor General in connection with violations of the rules of executive and labor discipline, ethical behavior, prevention of conflicts of interest, transparency (anti-corruption); to consider appeals received by the prosecution office in connection with the commission of offenses, information published in the media and the Internet, as well as information obtained as a result of operations in accordance with the law; to raise the issue of conducting an official check, consider information about crimes committed or planned by the prosecutor's office, and, based on its results, apply with a statement; send inquiries to state bodies and local self-government bodies, state and municipal enterprises, departments and organizations, as well as other commercial and non-profit organizations, individuals, officials and legal entities and request information, documents and other materials from them; if necessary, to ensure that search operations are carried out jointly with the relevant operational bodies, including the Operations Department and the Operational Support Department of the Anti-Corruption General Directorate with the Prosecutor General's Office; to carry out an inspection appointed by the Prosecutor General in connection with the death (bodily injury), bodily injury (injury, contusion) of prosecutors in connection with the performance of their official duties, etc.
