The Department for Legal Support and Human Rights Issues is an independent structural unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 
The main duties and functions of the Department: to ensure the implementation of rule-making activities in the prosecution office of the Republic of Azerbaijan; coordinate the activities of the prosecution office in order to strengthen control over compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of human rights protection and international standards in this area in the process of rule-making and law enforcement; to participate in the implementation of the right of legislative initiative of the Prosecution Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan (submission of draft legislations and other issues to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan); to represent the Prosecution Office in the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan on behalf of the leadership of the Prosecutor General's Office; provide practical and methodological assistance to the structures included in the system of the prosecutor's office in organizing work with regulatory legal acts; coordinate the activities of bodies included in the system of the Prosecution Office on the execution of appeals and requests of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman); to promote in the prosecution office the practice of using legal principles, instructions and provisions (standards) from the experience of the European Court of Human Rights in law enforcement; ensure the current activity of the Museum of the Prosecution Office of Azerbaijan, ensure regular updates of information on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office in conjunction with the relevant structural divisions of the Prosecutor General's Office, etc.
