The Department for Supervision over Law Enforcement in Investigation, Inquiry and Operational Search Activities of Internal Affairs Bodies is an independent structural unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 
The main responsibilities and functions of the Department: to monitor the implementation of laws during the inquiry, inquiry and search of the relevant structural divisions of the internal affairs bodies and to organize the implementation of the functions of procedural guidance of the preliminary investigation in the relevant investigative bodies; to exercise prosecutorial control over the activities of lower prosecution bodies in this area; to study and summarize the activities of law enforcement agencies in the investigation, inquiry and search of bodies included in the system of the prosecution office, and to form a unified practice in this area; exercise control over the reception, registration, consideration of received applications and information about committed and planned crimes in the internal affairs bodies, with the use of procedural coercion measures and compliance with the requirements of the law when detaining a person in respect of whom procedural coercion measures have been imposed; take measures to eliminate the identified violations, etc.
