The International Legal Cooperation Department is an independent structural unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

The main responsibilities and functions of the Department: to carry out international legal cooperation with the prosecution offices of foreign states, law enforcement agencies, other state bodies, international organizations, participate in the preparation of documents on cooperation in the manner prescribed by law, organize the signing of memorandums of cooperation, ensure coordination of legal assistance issues extradition and criminal cases within the competence of the prosecution office; monitor the quality of requests for legal assistance and extradition; to take part in the adoption of appropriate measures for the return of property exported abroad; coordinate the activities of the prosecution office in addressing issues of international legal cooperation, ensure its implementation in accordance with the requirements of the legislation; to participate in international events, prepare analytical reports on the goals, progress and results of these events and make suggestions on improving the activities of the prosecution office in this area; ensure the necessary protection of the rights of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and stateless persons permanently residing in the Republic of Azerbaijan or in case of committing crimes against them outside the country, and take the necessary measures to investigate the information received, etc.
